Empowering 1,000 Rural Women IDPs: RWUS Livelihood Project Update
At Rural Women Upliftment Society (RWUS), our mission is to uplift and empower marginalized rural women. Central to this vision is our livelihoods initiative, which has recently reached a major milestone: 1,000 internally displaced women—living in relief camps and rented homes—have been supported through this transformative program.

🌱 What We’re Doing
- Material Support for Economic Activity
Women from various trades—weavers, vegetable vendors, artisans, street vendors, small‑trade operators (tea shops, meat stalls, petrol vendors)—have received essential tools, raw materials, and seed capital to launch their ventures. - Active Monitoring & Ongoing Support
RWUS staff continue monitoring progress, mentoring beneficiaries, and adjusting support to amplify success. - Immediate Impact
Around 80% of participating women have successfully started earning between ₹40,000–₹50,000 so far—an incredible boost toward self-reliance and economic freedom.
🌟 Rising Stars in the Field
Trade | Income Potential so far |
---|---|
Vegetable Vendors | ₹40–50k monthly |
Artisans, Weavers | ₹40–50k monthly |
Others | ₹40–50k monthly |
Through sustainable empowerment and skill-building, these women are transforming household economies and community resilience.
Challenges We’re Tackling
Despite great strides, RWUS recognizes ongoing hurdles that require attention:
- Health-Related Interruptions
A small percentage of beneficiaries have struggled to maintain their livelihoods due to acute or chronic health issues. - Market Access for Artisans
Artisans crafting traditional Mora items, in particular, face difficulty accessing steady markets. Promoting fair-trade connections and direct buyer linkages is an urgent priority.
Where You Can Help 💛
To scale this impact and support all 1,000 women—including those facing health challenges or needing better market integration—we are raising vital funds.
