Capacity Building for Community based organizations (CBOs) and Peoples Organisations (POs)

RWUS provide training, workshop, consultations, awareness programmes for women’s organisation, Church groups, People’s Organisation, Community Based Organisation and Self Help Groups on advocacy and networking, peace building, globalisation and rural development, climate change and on issues related to women’s and human rights.

The project is implemented in 2 districts of Manipur namely Bishnupur and Churachandpur. The major components are capacity building, advocacy and networking, gender and livelihood security. It works towards creating a Peoples Organisations for self sustenance, economic development and effective rights-based advocacy and lobbying. It also provides training to address the impact of global warming and climate change, awareness workshops on Right to food, Human Rights, Right to Information Act, Exposure/ exchange visit for SHG leaders and PO members, conflict and gender discrimination and training programmes for SHGs. During this period, PIO and Village level POs also jointly advocated and raised community issues to the concerned govt line department. Meanwhile, “Peoples Initiative for Development (PID)” a forum for the voiceless poor and marginalised, met with candidates of the State Assembly election and submitted memorandum that includes efficient implementation of govt. food provisions and other agriculture related programmes in the district. The project monitor and worked with 14 SHG’s and 9 community food grain banks, set up and managed by SHG’s and Peoples organization (PO).

The project conducted 19 training’s and awareness workshop participated by 597 participants and 14 Consultation meetings attended by 415 Po’s and CBO’s during the 12 month period.

RWUS recognises the need for organising workshops, capacity building and training to empower communities to advocate for their rights and entitlements in Govt. food provision and land rights for self sustenance, sustainable economic development and to manage their resources.

RWUS also identify need for the formation of forums such as Self Help Group (SHG), Farmer’s Club, local level advocacy and lobby works, information campaign and staff capacity building and People Initiative for Development (PID) for voiceless, poor and marginalised communities. Alliance building and networking of women organisations, civil societies, Community Based Org., religious institution within state, region, national and international support.
