At RWUS, we understand the importance of addressing environmental concerns such as the management and protection of natural resources, restoring ecological imbalances, and innovating for new eco-friendly livelihoods. That’s why we have initiated several programs and environment projects, with a focus on women and youth, to promote skill-building and related promotion work. We also recognize the importance of networking and negotiating on issues faced by indigenous peoples, engaging with extractive issues for the protection, promotion, and management of natural resources and indigenous people’s rights.
Our Women Environment Project, in collaboration with Women’s Earth Alliance, helps local women advocate for issues related to natural resources and climate change affecting their livelihood security. We believe that empowering women in this way is crucial for promoting sustainable development and environmental protection.
We have also initiated a collective platform called the Coalition on Environment and Natural Resources (CENRs), which engages with local communities, national and international platforms under three thematic interventions: Women and Extractives issues, socio-economic situations of communities affected by mining and oil and gas exploration, and indigenous peoples’ rights and their land. Through CENRs, we challenge emerging issues around natural resource extraction in North East India.
At RWUS, we are committed to promoting peaceful co-existence and human sustainability in Manipur. We believe that protecting natural resources and indigenous peoples’ rights is crucial for achieving this goal. Join us in our mission to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
